Bonnie DeSimone, EA With more than 24 years experience in the preparation of business,
individual, estate, trust, gift and nonprofit tax returns, Bonnie also
conducts tax seminars throughout the United States and has previously been
a UCSB Extension Instructor. She also has taught adult education
courses through the SBCC Continuing Education division. Her professional
affiliations include speaking for the National Association of Tax
Professionals and the California Society of Enrolled Agents. She is a
graduate of Westmont College.

Phillip Pearson, EA has a Masters Degree in International Political Economy from USC and has taught International Economics for USC in Madrid, Spain, before moving back to the Santa Barbara area. An enrolled agent, Phillip has received certification in tax preparation from UCSB Extension and has been preparing taxes in the Santa Barbara area for several years before joining the professional staff of DeSimone, Rennie & Sloane. His specialties include individual taxation, as well as partnership, corporation, and trust returns.

returns. Stephen worked for the IRS from 1970-1978.

Grant Lindley, EA, Ph.D. comes to us from another tax preparation firm in the Santa Barbara area. In addition to his credentials as an enrolled agent, his background includes a Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from UC Santa Barbara, as well as degrees in physics and many years of experience in software engineering. This background makes him ideally suited for tax planning and preparation of tax returns for businesses, teachers, and engineers. Grant's specialties include self-employed taxpayers, and returns that include rental property or stock sales.

Gerry Sottak is an enrolled agent candidate who comes to us from another local tax preparation company. A Santa Barbara native, she began preparing taxes professionally in 1981. Gerry worked for 20 years as a teacher and librarian in our local school districts. After retirement in 2005, she returned to the tax field. In addition to education and taxes, Gerry has a background in real estate and is an organizational consultant. She particularly enjoys preparing returns involving rental real estate.
